Adolfo O Gutierrez, PhD; (Linkedin) – Founder, US, EU, Asia and Australia
Serial entrepreneur, applied scientists and inventor with comprehensive experience in technology development, product definition, venture organization and fund raising activities. He has researched extensively the early stages of numerous successful startup companies; and advised over 50 technology startups in LATAM, US and EU. Very experienced in applied scientific research, inventions development and commercialization of scientific innovations.
He is founder or co-founder of Memstar Corporation (1999; MEMS Actuators), Novatempo (2001; Global Consulting), uBricks Research (2004; Heterogenous Integration), and Smart Grid 2030 (2009; Energy Innovation). He co-founded SEPARI (2005; HPC), a non-profit research organization focused in the creative exploitation of High Performance Computing.
He has taught courses on entrepreneurship, new product development and financing of startups in MBA programs in Chile, Argentina and Brazil at several universities in LATAM, including University of Chile (Santiago, Chile) and Technical University Federico Santa Maria. (Valparaiso, Chile).
Dr. Gutierrez holds 6 US patents covering novel integrated microelectromechanical devices and wafer level characterization instruments.
He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and University of Chile. Holds 6 technical degrees in Electrical Engineering (BSc EE, MSc EE), MSc Nuclear Engineering and PhD Engineering Physics.
Steven Vasquez, MEng, MBA (Linkedin) – Consulting Manager, US, EU, Latin America
Mr. Vasquez is an engineer, entrepreneur and community leader with comprehensive experience in novel consumer products, early stages of start-up companies, new product development management, marketing and sales.
He is the founder, first CEO, and now current board member of ReQuest, Inc., a successful venture capital backed consumer electronics company. He has been awarded two patents in Cellular Telephony and in Multimedia Synchronization Technology. He and his company have received multiple product awards, among those are: Popular Science Best of What’s New Grand Award in Electronics (2000), CEDIA Best Audio Product of the Year (2001), CEDIA Best Video Product of the Year (2004), Inc. 500 Fastest Growing Private Companies (2004, 2005), Albany Capital Business Review 40 Under 40 (2003). Most recently, Mr. Vasquez ran for a seat in the US House of Representatives (2008).
He holds a B.Sc. and M.Eng. in Electrical Engineering, and an MBA (Entrepreneurship) from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Raj K Gupta, PhD (Linkedin) – Consulting Manager, US, EU, Asia
Dr. Gupta has been a founder, CTO, engineer, and consultant for more than fifteen companies. He brings over a decade of experience in sensor manufacturing, prototyping, design and micromachining and provides expertise from development to manufacturing to expert witness testimony. As a co-founder and engineering manager at InLight Communications, he invented their all-optical 3D micromechanical switch for fiber-optic switching networks. In 1997 he opened the Bay Area office for Coventor, formerly known as Microcosm Technologies, led their technical sales in the Western US and Asia, and initiated educational outreach programs with UC Berkeley and Stanford.
He has been with Volant since December 2001, where more recently his jobs have included the development of a client’s first sub 1 PSI piezoresistive pressure sensor, modeling acoustical vibrations in piezopolymer (PVDF) microphones, fluid flow analysis in a micro fuel cell, and due diligence on a micromachined technology for improving the efficiency of concentrator photovoltaic systems.
Dr. Gupta is a graduate of the MIT electrical engineering doctorate and masters programs. His bachelors is from the University of Illinois at Urbana.
